it depends if you have a permanent injury that now prevents you from performing your usual job or trade. If that is the case, you are looking at hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of dollars, depending on your age and profession.
Another question is whether you will need physical therapy, rehabilitation, or job training.
Have you lost work as a result of the injury?
Was your car totaled?
If your attorney is worth his salt, baed on your injuries and medical bills, I would say at least $40,000. Whatever you do, don’t settle for less than that. Calculate you lost wages, pain and suffering, medical bills, legal fees, future medical treatment, and property damage (auto damage. It is irrelevant that you have auto insurance because the defendant should not be the beneficiary of your insurance company.). If you were driving a 2006 Lexus, with limited miles, and it was totaled, you are looking at significantly more the 40K… at a minimum.
if you do not have a lawyer, get one asap..otherwise you WILL not get a fair shake of the tree.
Hope you are getting better….also the lawyer can sort out the medical bills so it does not adversely effect your credit rating whilst it is all being sorted out.
Regards…..daughter has excellent lawyer…………….try to avoid the 1-800-ask-****, they DO rip you off
