is my insurance settlement exempt from income in section 8 housing?

I was in a car accident and the settlement is comming in. I want to apply for subsidize housing, but I want to spend all my money>=?

It counts as an asset, not income.
Any money you have (bank accounts, income from a job, child support etc) HAS TO be reported to your caseworker for Section 8. It WILL be a factor in determining if you even qualify for it or what your portion of rent you would have to pay.
What you are wanting to do is welfare fraud.
Yeah, heaven forbid you SUPPORT YOURSELF!!!
No money is exempt from being counted toward your eligibility except student loans. You can have no more than $2000 in total assets except for your car.
