Has anyone ever heard of "cashing in" your va benefits that are paid monthly, for a lump sum payment?

Someone told my husband that he could choose to receive up front, a lump sum, for an estimated amount of years, on his va benefits. Has anyone else heard of this, I have not. Thanks for any info!

I’ve never heard of Lump Sum payments for VA benefits, however I have seen and paid out Lump Sum payments of retirement money.
It’s called the CSB/Redux Retirement plan.
It’s not exactly "cashing in" your retirement payments, it’s getting a lump sum of the payment at your 15 year mark of service which you payback over time after you retire out of your retirement checks. It’s like a loan without the huge APR’s. This might be what the person who told your husband that were talking about.
I have been receiving VA benefits for over forty years and have never heard of such a thing.
It is a scam…
I’ve heard of lump sum payments when someone passes away, but not for living members. The place to check would be here:

You cannot do this. VA pension benefits are based on income which means that they fluctuate based on your household income and compensation depends on his disabilities which can always change.
VA Disability compensation cannot be sold due to a law passed by congress in 2003. Predatory lending companies were taking advantage of veterans receiving these benefits and ruined the practice for everyone! At the time there were a FEW reputable firms buying portions of your VA Disability compensation at a fair rate. It only takes a few idiots to ruin it for everyone. I have bad credit due to divorce while serving in the Army and needed a loan for a home and missed the “cut-off” because of this new law by three months.
Secondly, VA Disability Compensation does NOT “fluctuate” according to income levels. This is true with the “old” system but the current VA Compensation system pays a set amount per service member and per dependent until that dependent turns 18. It will not change unless a dependent turns 18 or your rating percentage changes.
I believe it would help. If I could cash in 10Yrs for 80% it would allow me to prosper in the current economy (I’m moving to all cash versus timed payments etc) and It would also help the economic scenario facing the government and the people now.
Unfortunately, It would not work for everyone (those who need baby sitting or have poor management skills. In addition the amount of Political BS that would mount up to make a simple decision would be Cost prohibitive
